Home Care After Waxing

To ensure maximum comfort and benefit after the treatment, it is important to follow the steps below at home.

1. Avoid applying HEAT to the waxed area for 12 to 24 hours. This includes hot baths, sauna, and steam.

3. Allow 24 hours before use of any Glycolic Treatments or Alpha-hydroxy Acid.
4. Avoid applying highly FRAGRANCED products to the waxed area. This includes perfume, scented body lotions, antiperspirants, cosmetics, or feminine hygiene sprays. Only use professional products, recommended to you by the skin care therapist who performed the waxing service.
5. Avoid using HARSH ABRASIVES or exfoliators in the waxed area. If you are prone to in-grown hairs, loofah mittens or exfoliant scrubs can be used ONCE the hair has begun to grow back.
6. Avoid applying high SPF SUNBLOCKS to the waxed area for 12 to 24 hours after the waxing service. Sunscreen chemicals can be irritating to the newly waxed skin. This includes Self-Tanning products and Tan Accelerators.
7. Any PINKING of the skin should disappear within 6 to 8 hours after the waxing treatment. Slight pinking is normal, and indicates that the hair was removed from the root, rather than superficially broken off, as in shaving. This is the reason that professional waxing LASTS for so much longer.
8. For BEST RESULTS, repeat your professional waxing every 4 to 6 weeks depending on the area and your individual hair growth rate.

Questions about Waxing

Does waxing hurt?

The first time hurts more than any other time. Why? Because if you wax regularly, you are removing less hair each time. If you wait too long between waxing, it will be like starting all over again.

Will my hair grow back thicker/stronger/darker?

When hair is shaved, it is cut off at the thick part of the hair which is why you can feel stubble the next day. A properly waxed hair is removed from the root, and when the hair starts to grow back it is a new hair, very fine at the tip, so no stubble.

How long does the hair have to be?

We suggest that you let your hair grow for three weeks before waxing, regardless of body part. If you get waxed before three weeks and it isn't long enough, all of the hair will not be removed. It typically takes three waxing appointments for your legs to be smooth due to the different stages of hair growth.

note: We regret that we cannot perform waxing services on clients who are taking Acutane, Retin-A, Renova, prescription strength Glycolic Acid, or antibiotics, due to the sensitivity these prescriptions cause to the skin. Hair must be grown out 1/4 inch. We do not recommend ingesting alcohol or caffeine before any waxing service. One should never use the steam or sauna prior to waxing. Please allow 24 hours before sun bathing or using a tanning bed after waxing, as your skin may still be sensitive.

What is Threading?

Threading is a proven age-old form of facial hair removal practiced in India, China and Middle East. The procedure uses a 100% cotton thread which is twisted and pulled along the skin surface of unwanted hair, lifting hair directly from the follicle. As the facial hair is removed, only a slight pinch is felt.

Threading is the perfect facial hair removal alternative for those with sensitive skin. Unlike laser hair removal, waxing or the use of depilatories, irritation and skin rashes are avoided as the top layer of your skin is not stripped off in the process, allowing threading for those who are on Acutane, Renova & Retin A. Also, since threading is a completely natural skin removal process, it works on all skin types, whether you have normal skin, sensitive skin, tanned or damaged skin.
